In 2004, the American Bible Society’s Board of Trustees voted to enhance the reach and impact of The Gallery at the American Bible Society by expanding its vision through the creation of the Museum of Biblical Art, an independently chartered 501(c)(3) educational institution.

For the first five years of its existence, the American Bible Society provided major support for MOBIA’s operations, exhibitions and programs. As a demonstration of its confidence in the future of the Museum of Biblical Art, in 2009 ABS entered into a partnership agreement with MOBIA whereby funding from the Bible Society will provide a major portion of MOBIA’s operational overhead for the next three years, allowing the Museum to grow toward full fiscal independence. The commitment by the American Bible Society to confer independence on, and nurture, the Museum of Biblical Art is unusual in that few institutions with a proven program are willing to allow that program to stand on its own as an independent entity.

MOBIA would like to particularly thank the American Bible Society for its continued financial support.

We are grateful to our family of contributors. Their generous donations make exhibitions, public programs and day-to-day operations possible.
