On Sunday, January 10, 2010, MOBIA hosted the talented Elizabeth Swados and musicians in the Main Gallery. The group performed songs from
Bible Women, a collection of songs written by Liz Swados in 1995, about Jewish heroines such as Lilith, Sarah and Ruth. Elizabeth Swados, a faculty member at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and renowned musician, director, and composer, has received five Tony Award nominations and three Obie Awards for her theatrical productions. Tune in starting Sunday, December 6 for a CBS religion special about art and the Bible. "The Art of "The Book"" features an interview with MOBIA Executive Director Ena Heller discussing the Bible's influence on art. The program also highlights our current exhibition by noted NYC artist Tobi Kahn which delves into the relationship between space, objects and the sacred in the 21st century.
